Actor Wesley Snipes was sentenced to three years in prison for tax evasion by a judge yesterday afternoon. The government claims that Snipes owes a total of $2.7 million in back taxes (though Snipes' attorney argued it was $228,000) and the three-year sentence was the maximum he could get. Letters written by Denzel Washington and Woody Harrelson were written in Snipes' defense but to no avail; this should serve as a reminder for all Hollywood stars that everyone has to pay their taxes!
