Tokio Hotel is a German band founded by singer Bill Kaulitz
, guitarist Tom Kaulitz
(identical twin brothers), bassist Georg Listing
and drummer Gustav Schäfer. The quartet have sold more than 5 million albums in Germany alone. The four met in a Magdeburg club in 2001 after a live show. Schäfer and Listing, who knew each other from music school, watched from the audience while Bill and Tom Kaulitz
performed. Under the band name "Devilish" the quartet began playing in talent shows and small concerts. They were later discovered by a music producer and changed their name to Tokio Hotel, due to a love of Tokio and due to their constant touring and living in hotels. The band has now become one of Germanys biggest music exports.
