Will she or won't she? For weeks, that's been the buzz, but now it's official: Britney Spears will appear at MTV's Video Music Awards. Although the pop star will not be performing, she will open the show. The singer ? who has been nominated for many VMAs but has not yet won one ? will be on hand to see if this year is her year. She's nominated for three awards: Best Female Video, Best Pop Video, and Video of the Year for the song Piece of Me.

Pete Doherty collapsed from an overdose before a performance in Austria, according to the Daily Star. His heart stopped beating but the doctors could bring him back to life and four hours later then planed, Pete Doherty was performing on stage. He told the crowds that it was some small problems before the show but nothing serious, he said "I'm still alive". But not for so much longer if you keep on going like this.

Amy Winehouse may have brain damage after suffering two major overdoses in the past 12 months according to dailymail. Amys's first overdosed in August last year from cocaine, heroin, ecstasy, ketamine and crystal meth. It was following this second overdose in July that doctors are worried her brain was damaged by the cannabis overdose after she displayed symptoms normally associated with schizophrenia. Now doctors have warned the troubled star that one more overdose will kill her.

Even though Britney Spears is promoting this year's MTV Video Music Awards she won't do a performance, according to her manager. He says that contrary to media reports, Britney was never slated to perform on this year's VMAs she has her hands full with the recording of her next album, which is going amazingly well, and her focus remains on the studio. Britney's "Gimme More" comeback performance during last year's VMAs was one of the most-talked-about moments of 2007.
