He has also played the role of Will Blakelee in the 2010 drama The Last Song, based on the Nicholas Sparks novel by the same name. Liam Hemsworth plays the love interest of Miley Cyrus's character in the film.

November 2009: The couple tried to keep their romance a secret for as long as possible, but in November the 16-year-old Miley couldn't stay quiet anymore, and told the world they were together. June 2010: Miley admitted that several songs on her album Can't Be Tamed where inspired by the love of her life: "There are a lot of songs that are about Liam. All of them are about him in a way", she said back then. August 2010: Miley and Liam split for the very first time. November 2010: They got back together, but split again in November. April 2011: The couple couldn't stay away from each other for very long and reconciled in April. February 2012: Liam spoke out about their love, almost one year after they got back together again. "She makes me really happy", he said. June 2012: Miley and Liam announced their engagement, and revealed they had big plans on getting married in the near future. "I'm so happy to be engaged and look forward to a life of happiness with Liam", she said. February 2013: Reports were made that Liam Hemsworth had a wandering eye, and that he was making out with January Jones after the Oscars. People said Miley (with her short platinum blonde hair and grunge look), is no longer the girl Liam once fell in love with. Miley spoke out and said she did not call off their wedding. March 2013: Miley and Liam breaks up. Again. It is said that Miley is trying to get him back, but Liam still hasn't commented on the breakup at all.
