His own life is very similar to the character he played, as he was also teased and harrassed for dancing as a child. Billy comes from a family of dancers and started dancing himself when he was six. He beat Russell Crowe, Tom Hanks and Michael Douglas for the best actor BAFTA award for his performance as Billy.
