In an act of complete desperation, Katie Holmes has filed to be an "emergent applicant" in New York City court to receive immediate custody and child support of her daughter Suri. By filing this way, she is making her trial for divorce public against Tom Cruise and it means that Tom will have to hire a New York lawyer- he can't take the divorce to California. Tom and Katie are scheduled to appear before a judge on July 17.
Katie has decided to file for an emergency hearing not only because she is afraid to lose Suri to Scientology, but also because she feels that Tom will not cooperate with her in court. Most of the time celebs settle these matters outside of court, but Katie is determined to win and this might be her only chance to get what she wants- which is custody of Suri.
