The brand became famous ni the late 1980's for its minimalist, deconstructive and often severe designs. Helmut Land fashions were at first sold in upscale departments before Mr.Land entered into a partnership with Prada group. However, after some struggling with the brand, it was sold to Link Theory of Japan in 2006 who re-launched the brand with new designers, which was to become the big breakthrough for the Helmut Lang label.
