Style Tips: The 1950's are Back!

Sunday 10:18 AM, 21/11/2010
British model Daisy Lowe usually has a punky mix and match look, but she gives herself a flam makeover with a 1950's feel dress and pretty heels. She has kept her rough hair and glam-rock makeup look though. A great combo for her! Women had curves in the 1950's and at Louis Vuitton's Autumn/Winter 2010 runway show, models like Laeticia Casta were chosen to walk the show to show off the sexier, softer 50's sihouettes. Laeticia looks like a real woman and isn't normal runway skinny and it started a trend! Curves are back in fashion! Dita Von Teese has created her personal style around the 1940's and 1950's and she always looks so beautiful with her hair and makeup perfectly done. She also accesorises her looks in a smart way. Add a touch of the 50's to your look with vintage jewelry and sunglasses, a wavey hairdo, red lips and ultra glam nails. Sophia Vergara is smoking hot in the sparkly Louis Vuitton 50's-inspired dress. Even in this lady-lake cut she is super-sexy! A nice change from the obvious short and tight party dress! Always ready to try out a new trend Rachel Bilson looks adorable in this pretty belted print dress, also from the Louis Vuitton Autumn 2010 collection. Eva Mendes was sweet and sexy in this retro-feel swing skirt and ponytail look recently. We love how she has combined the really modern nude trend to keep it fresh and right now. Milla Jovovich was a total knockout in this 50's-inspired gown at Cannes earlier this year. We love how she is wearing a rough-edged almost mo-hawk hairdo with the ultra-glam and feminine multi-textured dress! Swing skirts weren't the only popular silhouette in the 50's. The tube style, belted dress like Maggie Grace is wearing here, were also hot back then and they are just as hot right now. Again its all about modernising, you don't have to look like you have raided your granny's closet to look 1950's glam! We adore the way Gwyneth Paltrow styled up her Louis Vuitton! First of all the cut-out neckline is very sexy and defiinitely brings this look into 2010 and then her hair! Its all chic and neat in the front and then towards the back it goes a little punky! Nicole Kidman makes such a pretty 1950's housewife! She proved that in her movie "The Stepford Wives" and here she has kind hinted back to that look with the fabric and cut of this dress. Pumps and stillettos are also a must for the 50's!
The 1950's will always be remembered as a breakthrough time for fashion. Christian Dior became famous and as a major luxury brand and he his tight waisted dresses with full and shorter skirts became the major trend of the time. For the first time ever, clothes were made around the taste of younger women and after the war there was a big move towards glamour and spending money on looking beautiful. Older women chose more hour glass shapes and younger girls wore big swing skirts and everyone was dressed up smartly all the time, with full makeup, pearls and heels!

The hit TV series "Mad Men" starring Christina Hendricks and January Jones has inspired many fashionistas and designers, especially Louis Vuitton's Marc Jacobs to bring back these lady-like styles with an updated, modern twist of course! Whether you want to go full on like Dita Von Teese or just have a hint of 50's glamour like Eva Mendes and Maggie G. We have the inspiration for you!

This Week's Worst Dressed Celebrities!

Monday 5:19 PM, 15/11/2010
8. Just because Daisy Lowe put a jacket over it, doesn't make this rouged leather dress okay! We didn't like it on Marion Cotillard a few weeks ago and its not much better on Daisy. 7. Bonnie Wright wore this black sack to the premiere of the new Harry Potter movie this week. We understand its tough to compete with fashion darling Emma Watson on the red carpet, but seriously, she could at least try! 6. Ok so this dress isn't actually so bad, we just think its totally wrong for Priscilla Presley. Is she trying to do high fashion with the sleeve detail? She just looks like mutton dressed as lamb - in the 80's! This printed dress is actually kind of funky. The way Jaime Winstone wears it though, she is looking a bit like like a dirty goth at a Mexican Day of the Dead party. Agreed? Oh no, way to ruin that beautiful hour glass figure Kim Kardashian! Those gold patterns make her look so much wider and bigger than she actually is! British singer Diana Vickers is trying too hard here again. We are just not in love with this purple printed jumpsuit at all! How old is Kirsten Dunst again? Barely 30, but in this vintage Chanel she looks like an old granny! The idea behind wearing vintage is to look cool and edgy not old fashioned! Oh no another styling disaster from Amber Rose. Too tight and tasteless for our liking. This girl looks like she has raided Grace Jones' old stage costumes and is running wild with them on the streets. Not a good look!
We are truly shocked at this week's list! Too much boring and tasteless clothing for just one week! We expect from Paris Hilton and Diana Vickers lately, but what are Daisy Lowe and Kim Kardashian doing? They should know better!

London Fashion Week: The Fun Moments!

Monday 8:43 PM, 20/09/2010
Agyness Deyn gets a feel of Lily Allen's baby bump - cute! Daisy Lowe modelling for Vivienne Westwood Vivienne Westwood at the end of her show Sienna Miller and Poppy Delevign at Matthew Williamson Pamela Anderson in Vivienne Westwood Cat Deeley Amber Rose and her funky glasses Sienna Miller's two favorite guys Matthew Williamson and Jude Law supporting her show! Jodie Harsh - wow! What was Eliza Doolittle wearing? Hmmm not sure... Jaime Winstone and Agyness Deyn having a serious fashion moment Daisy Lowe and Jaime Winstone having a bit of after party fun! Alice Dellal in silver on the Pam Hogg runway Paloma Faith in Ashley Isham - whoa!
London Fashion Week is so much crazier than all the other city's Fashion Week showings. Everyone looks like they are having a total ball and best of all, the fashionistas in the front rows all seem to be the best of friends, unlike in New York and Paris where everything is so stiff and uptight!

London Fashion Week started this weekend and here are some of our favorite moments from the front row with celebs like Lily Allen, Pixie Geldof and Paloma Faith. There were also some celebs on the runway like Alice Dellal, Daisy Lowe and of course the grande Dame of Brit fashion Vivienne Westwood, plus see whose famous boyfriend sat on her front row below!

This Week's Best Dressed Celebrities!

8. Gwen Stefani rocking her unique style on the streets of New York, this lady never puts a fashion foot wrong when it counts! Her lipstick and bright yellow nails add some fun to the look too! 7. We adore this litte petal skirted black dress Victoria Beckham wore on a night out with friends while in London last week! The longer hair is also a nice change and we think she is looking softer and prettier with this more relaxed look. 6. Malin Åkerman was clean, simple and elegant at the screening of her new movie "The Romantics" this week in New York. Malin totally out-dressed Katie Holmes who is the star of the movie! Malin's accesories and makeup really make this whole look sparkle! 5. This is why Rachel Bilson is one of our favorite fashionistas. She rocks everything she puts on and makes being trendy looks so easy! How perfectly do those leather shorts fit?! Wow! 4. Daisy Lowe definitely got our attention at the GQ Magazine party in London last week. Who said stripes were just for leisure time. This gown is divine on her and fits her like a glove! We want one! 3. Matching can make fashion magic! Claudia Schiffer went against the mismatching pattern trend and matched this sparkly top and skirt together and they look almost like they were made to go together! We are so into this whole outfit from the bag right down to the tights, shoes and jewelry! 2. Model Chanel Iman all dressed up in her name-sake label, at the Chanel launch party was a match made in heaven. This woven, sparkly dress is a must-have and those shoes are to die for, as is that red bag! 1. Alexa Chung goes girly and retro and we think it is so hot on her! We have been saying she needed to do something different with her hair and we are so glad she realized it too. Gorgeous in Chanel Alexa!
Fashionistas have had a busy week with all the Fashion Nights Out all over the world and of course the parties around New York Fashion Week. Some of our favorite girls like Rachel Bilson, Claudia Schiffer and Gwen Stefani have impressed us yet again with their gorgeous styling. Take a look!

8. Ok so we know red is one of the hot trends for this Autumn/Winter, but seriously? Heidi Klum in literally the same tone of red from head to toe? We love a woman in a 3 piece suit, but his is overkill! 7. Jennifer Garner attended her husband Ben Affleck's new movie "The Town" premiere this weekend at the Toronto film festival and we don't know if she is trying to hide her tummy in this badly fitting dress or what, but something was just totally off about this look for her! She is hiding all her curves! 6. We are confused about Daisy Lowe's outfit at the Chanel boutique opening in Soho. She usually looks so quirky and cool but in this lace and blue velvet cape combo she looks like she is at a Lord of the Rings dress up party! 5. Promoting The Town with Ben Affleck is upcoming actress Rebecca Hall's big debut on the red carpet and so far its one big fail after another! The worst of the week has to be this black and red patched dress. She looks like something out of the circus! 4. We keep saying Jessica Simpson needs a new stylist and this outfit proves it again! The denim dress does nothing for her figure and that headband looks so out of place in her hair. Get it right Jessica, especially when you are trying to be a serious fashion designer! 3. Legendary French actress Catherine Deneuve actually still has a fantastic body for a woman her age, but you would never guess it under this mess of drapery! She is being totally overwhelmed by all that fabric! 2. We think Leighton Meester is trying a little too hard to be noticed in this cutout mini dress! She usually wears classics mixed with a few edgy pieces for a unique look, but this is just bordering on cheap! Its Fashion Week Leighton, now is not the time to get it wrong! 1. This bright yellow kaftan mini Yahima Torres wore at the Venice Film Festival is all kinds of wrong! Her thighs are not her best feature at all, so why show them off like that? Another pretty girl hiding her curves under way too much fabric. What was she thinking?!
There has been a whole lot going on lately in the fashion and showbiz worlds! First the Venice Film Festival and then the Toronto Film Festival and New York Fashion Week starting on the same day, not to mention all the international Vogue Fashion Night Out parties! This means there were celebs trying to look their best on almost ever corner of the world this week, but these ladies just lost their way somewhere and ended up looking like this....
