A lot happened during the year that passes, from assault to wedding and various celebrity scandals. New couples were formed in Hollywood but several couples also chose to separate during 2009. Chris Brown and Rihanna ended their relationship in a tragic way, Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson broke up, got back together, and broke up again and, everyone's favorite couple Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal ended the year by ending their relationship. Newly single rocker Avril Lavigne got some help from her brother Matthew while on a photoshoot in Los Angeles yesterday! Matthew kept a very close eye on his younger sister, making sure she didn't reveal too much when she unzipped her pants to tuck them into her waist. How sweet is he, if only all brothers were this helpful! What was up with those pants though? We don't blame Avril for ditching the pants totally later on, they looked so uncomfortable! No need for wardrobe malfunctions in the name of fashion girls, take a lesson!

Even though punkster Avril Lavigne and oil heir Brandon Davis have been partying together for years as friends, now that Avril has announced her split from husband Deryck Whibley, it looks like there has been a whole lot more than friendship going on between Avril and Brandon! The rumour is that Brandon has told Avril he is in love with her and begged her to leave Deryck for him. We have been watching it happen for a while now, married rock couple Avril Lavigne and Deryck Whibley have been living seperate lives for months, but now its official! Avril has kicked Deryck out of their multi-million dollar estate in Bel Air! A friend of Avril's has leaked that she has fallen out of love with Deryck and is ready to move on with her life, while poor Deryck is totally crushed by the breakup. The couple have been married for 3 years. Its always sad when a marriage breaks up, but these two were so young when they got together, we are not that surprised. (Source: USWeekly)
